We live in a very competative world were you can find and buy to your desire. You can find automotive component of many makes and brand with many different prices and some of which are a good buy. When it comes to battery purchases there is no exception.
Before I go any further with this article let me assure you that I do not write these articles for any monetary compensation for suggesting products for your vehicle, yes we do offer some of the products mentioned in this particular article but the automatic battery chargers are offered by many companies, we offer them because we believe in this particular product. With this explained I will continue with this article.
With so many brand of batteries available, which is the best and most reliable battery on the market currently available? After many years of use and in many different applications for both six and twelve volt systems by far I recommend the Optima Battery. The recommendation comes from our experience installing this particular battery in our customer's vehicles, motor homes and marine application.
This battery is totally sealed which make it the perfect battery because no maintence is required. The construction of this battery differs from your conventional battery because the sulfuric acid is not separated from the internal battery plate. The Optima battery is manufactured with a process which uses plates with a absord glass mat technology, which mean the acid in the battery becomes one with the plates, if you were to punch a hole in the battery itself no acid would be lossed. This is a important factor for two reasons: many of the older vehicles that are seldomed use will be affected with a discharged battery and this is were many owners will not think about recharging the battery and simply jump start the vehicle and here is were the problems begins with damage to the charging system, specially those vehicles that are equipped with a generator.
Extending your battery life is not likely to be with a conventional battery if the use is minimal and for example the vehicle is not used for many months due to a harsh winter. When the battery is not in use what usually happen is the the acid mixed with the water inside the battery will tend to separate and this in essence is the end of the battery life.
This is the advantage of the Optima battery because of it's construction, the battery has the capabilty of not having to be used for longer periods of time than the conventional battery and still be charged. More information for this battery can be found at the Optima website and there are many suppliers available in the United States.
The second part of this article deals with automatic battery chargers which in reality it is similar to a battery trickle charger, however there is one big difference. A battery trickle charger will not fully stop charging the battery totally which means that if the charger is left on over a long period charging it will eventually begin to overcharge the battery and damage it.
An automatic battery charger works differently because it will maintain the battery charged, however it will totally shut off without being disconnected from the electrical plug and it will reactivate itself when the battery voltage start to go down, the advantage here is a very small charge is recieved by the battery so it can be left on for the entire winter and ready to use when spring and summer days come around.
At the bottom of this article you can see the pictures of the Optima Battery and the two automatic battery chargers we offer which can be found in our shopping catalog.
I hope these articles are helpfull and I will keep writing about different topics.
Sincerely,
Mike Martinez
